Just how accurate are iBike power meters?

Boyd Johnson, CAT 1 professional cyclist for the DLP racing team and cycling coach was asked by wattage forum members to independently test the iBike and let them know.

At the request of members of a wattage forum, I did this ride with a Power Tap, iAero, and the new Quarq Cinqo. As you can see from the graphs, all three tracked each other very nicely and the comparable accuracy of all three units makes it hard to distinguish any one power meter from the others.

I have been racing all year with the iPro and the iAero. The accuracy and precision of the units makes me confident that I can trust the numbers I am seeing on the screen. The light weight and portability is also great for riders on a racing scene. Seeing power numbers in a race has always been great, but many riders don’t want to add the weight of a traditional power meter.
