Don't plug the interface into the computer
before verifying you have the latest Polar PPP software installed
that contains the USB driver. If unsure download the latest
software update from Polar Finland.
You must have version 3.02.007 or
above installed before plugging in the interface.
Windows will recognise the interface with
the prompt: "Found New Hardware Polar USB Interface", then
run the "Found new hardware wizard". Use the Windows default
installation: "Install the software automatically", which
will search, find and install the Polar USB driver. The
installation should complete with the notification of "Polar USB

If the driver cannot be found by the
wizard, try the manual install: "Install from a list or
specific location:". The location of the driver will be at

Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager", that the entry for the
Polar USB Interface is not checked with an exclamation mark
indicating the driver was not installed properly.
Unplug the Polar USB interface and un-install the Polar USB
driver. To assist with doing this, download the Polar USB remove

After extracting and running the usb_remove_v1004.exe
program, re-install the latest Polar PPP4 software update.
Once the software has been updated and verified, plug in the
Polar USB IRIF again and follow the installation prompts. After
Windows advising that the installation was successful and the
device ready is for use, verify again in the "device manager"
that the device is working properly.
Run the PPP software and open the
"Options/Preferences/Hardware" and check the below settings.
Please make sure that "Use Internal Infrared Port (Win 95 only)"
is not checked.
